While we are always super excited for another season to begin, we share your frustration with respect to the relatively late release of schedules given that process is outside of WSA control. Well, pickup is soccer in its purest form. A: November 6, 3:30 -5 PM at Lilly Field. We will form as many teams as possible that meet this target level (as many as three per gender per birth year).
There is no coaching (just some help getting started), no referees and no spectators just the players. We do believe that in future seasons, the deadlines will move earlier to provide more time between the schedule release and first games, but again, this will be a SWD decision.
We had a hunch these would be well received why? This program extends for a two-year period (fall, spring of Year 1 and fall, spring of Year 2) before the players enter our Travel program at the U11 age. The other important point to note is that referee assignors will be endeavoring to schedule referees with more back to back games in the same locations so as to get the most out of the smaller referee pool (and to reduce gas costs for referees which are now meaningfully higher). One obvious statement regardless of the reason for fewer referees, is that we must endeavor to treat all referees well, they are doing a job, but also a service to the community of soccer players and teams in our area. Thanks to all our dedicated volunteers for helping us make it all possible!We wanted to share a few notes with respect to the schedule release timelines for our Travel Dev (U9/10) and Travel programs (U11+). The Norwalk Junior Soccer Association (NJSA) will not tolerate unruly behavior by its players, coaches, managers and spectators at games. New players to the program must register and attend the tryout. Spectator involvement in a match is limited to cheering the teams positively, and not demeaning anyone in the process. Please read carefully! A: Teams are formed in groups of 10-12 players. The programs currently enrolling are listed below. In just two, Tuesday evening sessions, more than 100 players ranging from 2nd grade to high school came out to enjoy fun, free flowing soccer among their friends and teammates. While the games are competitive, they are intended to be for learning and development as no standings are kept and there are no playoffs. Spring Intramural all programs (Tots/Pre-K, K-2, 3-8th) and Junior Referee, Spring Travel Development (2012 and 2013 birth year players) tryout November 6 for new players, Interest in our Spring Travel teams (for 2010 and older birth years, we may have selected openings on some of our existing teams), WSA High School soccer teams for winter and spring. The Southwest District (SWD) of CJSA and their league directors are responsible for the creation and release of our league schedules (their timeline can be viewed HERE), Preceding the schedule release, WSA and all our peers submit teams for inclusion in proper age brackets and recommended divisions (there are as many as 4 divisions in each age group based on competitive levels), This seasons deadline to submit teams was March 20th. NJSAP.O. The released schedules provide WSA with our final division placement for each team and each teams preliminary game dates/opponents/home v away designations, but NOT fields and times for each game. This meeting serves to align divisions with logical numbers of teams from which to create division schedules for the season. WSAs FREE pickup soccer nights have been a great success. The first weeks of the season, especially spring when multi-sport conflicts are higher, are always a bit stressful due to these dynamics, but we are confident that as we get past week one, it will become much smoother.Sincere thanks again for all you do. Following that meeting, SWD then commences the scheduling process for each bracket, with no involvement of WSA. Players must meet a target level of interest, focus and soccer ability to ensure a positive experience for all.
